For many years, the Ham and Cheese Croissant from Starbucks was my go-to order – always paired with a grande Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew. That specific combo carried me through so many early mornings: pre-exam caffeine boosts in college, quick breakfast stops after early shifts, and eventually, my routine stop during the morning commute to my corporate job. It was warm, cheesy, and filling; therefore, it was everything I could ask for in a savory breakfast pastry.
As part of my journey to stop breaking the bank on this addicting breakfast combo five days a week, I picked up a Nespresso machine back in April. It caught my eye the moment I walked into Costco — sitting perfectly on display, practically begging me to take it home. After a bit of trial and error, it’s completely replaced my Starbucks coffee runs and curbed the craving. But one crucial element was still missing: the Ham and Cheese Croissant.
Once I realized how easy these were to make and prep, not to mention how budget-friendly they are, it hit me: my Starbucks runs might actually be a thing of the past. (Well… at least until Pumpkin Spice season, obviously.)

Ingredients
1 Pack of Crescent Rolls or Puff Pastry Sheet
8 Slices Deli Tavern Ham Slices
4 Slices Swiss Cheese
1 Large Egg, Lightly Beaten

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the crescent dough onto a cutting board and gently smooth it out with a rolling pin.
- If you’re using puff pastry, cut the dough into triangles in your preferred size.
- Layer slices of ham and Swiss cheese onto each triangle, making sure not to let the fillings spill over the edges.
- Starting from the wide end, roll each piece of dough toward the pointed tip to form your croissants.
- Place the rolled croissants onto the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with a light egg wash.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the croissants are puffed up and golden brown.
To save, wrap croissants individually and store in airtight container. Reheat when ready to enjoy.
Whether you’re recreating a Starbucks favorite or simply craving a warm, savory, cheesy breakfast treat — savor every bite.
